“Your Education, Your Future”

High Support 16 - 18 years (with EHCP)

Specialist education provision for young people aged 16 – 18 with Education Health Care Plans (EHCP).  HTS offer part time and full time (up to 16.5 hours per week during academic term) provision for young people with a range of support needs.   Programmes are designed to take into account individual learner’s requirements (including complex needs), personal preference, learning goals and outcomes.  Programmes are supportive, engaging, interesting and linked to qualifications such as Functional Skills, NVQs and personal goals such as independent lives.

Learner Benefits

HTS provides a supportive, enjoyable, engaging environment for young people to learn.  Where there are high levels of support and learners are actively encouraged to influence their programme goals and delivery methods.  Learners are supported to make the progression into post 16 education, with HTS offering one to one and small group sessions enable learners to work towards and complete full Functional Skills qualifications in English, maths and/or ICT as well as Vocational Certificates or Diplomas.

Learners are supported to build their experiences and life skills from taking the bus to participating in an interview - to help learners move towards engaging or independent lives. Learners are supported and encouraged to participate in work placements to support progression into employment.

Parent Benefits

We work closely with parents and other stakeholders to plan and deliver programmes that are supportive and closely align with learners and parent/carers needs.

Life skills are integrated to the training programmes to enable learners to build their skills and independence in a safe and supportive environment.   We work with young people to build their skills and support progression towards employment.

Our training centre is friendly and learners state they feel safe due to the homely atmosphere.  Sensory needs are met using a range of resources and support methods and learners are encouraged to build their vocational and interpersonal skills to help them engage in employment and/or education in the future.

Progression Opportunities

Depending on learner support needs, some learners will attend a work placement as part of their programme or may even work part time.

Learners are supported to develop the skills, confidence and competences needed to progress into full time employment, supported education or Apprenticeships and learners can attend HTS as needed over one or more years (in line with their EHCP and NYCC funding).

Learner View

I started with HTS when I was in Year 11 at school (on a School Support Programme) and I continued on a 16-18 years with EHCP programme.

I would recommend HTS because it is relaxing and not a stressful place.

I do enjoy my course and it is excellent and very useful.  I get all the help I need and I cannot think of anything they could change.
